Great Omega Sale on the New Eden Store - i will go for the 12 months

As sure as night follows day after a real money sale comes the New Eden Store Sale.

And this one is a good sale.  Not the best ever - we once had bigger discounts - but very good nonetheless.

(the definitions of each column are below but it is mostly intuitive.)

As the Chart above shows, if you buy the 12 month deal, and assuming Plex costs 5.1 million, then you would spend 13.8 billion vs 30.6 billion if you just bought the Omega one month at a time (or 18.4 billion in the every day "sale" that is in the store for 12 months).

Buying the 12 month deal means you effectively get over 6 months for free vs buying 1 month Omega at a time. (see the explanations below).

Buying the 12 month deal means you are paying 1.2 billion per month vs the normal 2.6 billion if you bought Omega 1 month at a time.

It is all a bit of a no-brainer.

Almost . . . . . The final column "Monthly Breakeven Return" is explained below but effectively these deals only make sense if your business is unable to generate these monthly returns.  So, if your business generates a 15% return (on assets) each month then the 24 month Omega does not make sense, it would be better to buy 1 month Omega at a time and invest those billions into the business.

What am i going for?

I am going from 8 Omega Accounts to 5 as i have explained in this post.

And one of my Accounts is already Omega'd out to October 2027, something to do with being halfway through a cracking bottle of red wine when buying Omega last year.

So, that leaves 4 Accounts to deal with.

I don't really want to lock in for 24 months, there will always be a sale coming along.  So 12 feels a better idea.

So i will spend the cool 55 billion (4 x 13.8) to buy those Omega's tonight.

For the accountants / nerds out there, lets be careful

But, the calculation is not quite as simple as that, we must consider that we always have a "sale" and also that we are laying down several billion for a longer time period of Omega instead of investing those billions into our businesses and merely buying Omega  one month at a time.  In other words, we are forgoing revenues to buy Omega.

the rest of this is for accountants and nerds only, you have been warned . . . . 

The normal "sale"

There is always a sale going on for Omega.  The normal cost for 1 month of Omega is 500 Plex, 3 months is offered at 1200 Plex (vs the expected 1500 Plex), 6 months if 2100 Plex (vs the expected 3000 Plex), etc.

The table below shows the savings that can be acquired by buying longer term Omega:

Months = this shows the row data for 1 month Omega, 3, 6, 12 and 24

Normal Cost = in this case assuming Plex is 5.1 million cost and 500 plex needed for each month, so the cost for each period is number of months x 500 x 5.1 million

discount = this is the simple discount that the Plex actually required for each period gives vs the normal cost.  so for 3 months we need 1200 plex vs the 1500 that it would require of we bought 1 month 3 times, so a 20% discount.  The discount rises the longer the time period of Plex bought.

Offer Plex = This is the number of Plex required in the "sale" we get all the time in the New Eden Store

Actual Cost = This is the billions required to buy the Omega using the Plex required under the Offer column x the price of the plex.

Total Savings = Actual Cost - Normal Cost.  Simple savings calculation.

Monthly Saving = This takes the total savings and makes it on a per month basis which allows us to compare each time period.  The monthly saving rises with as the time period gets longer.

Total Return = Total Savings / Actual Cost.  A measure of the costs saved by buying that time period in the sale.

Months Saved = shows how many months therefore we have saved in the sale by taking part in the sale.  For example, the 24 month period shows that we would buy 6600 Plex vs the normal 24 x 500 = 12000.  That means we have saved 5400 Plex (12000-6600) which is the equivalent to 10.8 months (5400/500).  So for a 12 month Omega we save more than 6 months.  For a 24 month Omega we save 14 months.  In other words, we are effectively playing the game for free in those months.

Months bought = this is the period less the months saved.  In other words, looking at it from the point of view of how many additional months of Omega did we buy for free.

Simples.

Lets look at todays sale

Firstly, the discount has risen as we showed above.  That feeds through to better savings. etc.

But what i wanted to bring up here is the "Monthly Breakeven Return".  This measures how much my business would have to return each month to make it a better idea to stick with buying 1 month Omega rather than investing billions for a longer period Omega and forgoing the revenues / profits that those billions would have generated in my business.

For example, it would only make sense to buy a 12 month Omega if my business could not return 19.5% per month.  For the 24 month deal, it only makes sense if my business can not generate a 10% return.

This is important.  The 24 month Omega may look great but if your business generates more than 10% return per month then it is not such a good idea.

650,000 Free Skills Points and 7 Days Omega being given out in the NES Store

The New Eden Store has some freebies for the Cradle of War expansion.  And the beauty of this is that you only need to log into the account, not actually into the game.  So can be done quickly.

Firstly, just for logging in daily there are skill points and other items to collect:

You only have to log into your account to get this one, you don't need to log into the game itself.

This will deliver you 650,000 Skill points if you are Omega, 250,000 Skill points if you are Alpha.

And Secondly, in the New Eden Store there are the normal 15,000 free skill points and 7 days of Omega to collect for free.

Again, you only have to log into your account to get this one, you don't need to log into the game itself.

All these are available for all Omega accounts, and lesser versions for Alpha accounts (but still the 7 days of Omega i believe).

Gets tedious if you have several accounts but certainly my PC allows me to log into all my accounts at the same time.

20% off Omega in the Ingame Store - i bought 12 months Omega

I discussed the New Eden Store (ingame store) 20% off Omega in a prior post.

Ad pure Omega deals go, this is a good one.

So, i decided to go for it and buy an additional 12 months Omega across all my Omega Accounts and the old Account i will devote to manufacturing.

And for good measure, because i was most way through a bottle of red, i bought an additional 12 months for one of my accounts.

The Cost

That was 2,880 plex per account over 8 accounts = 23,040 Plex = 142.8bn ISK.

One of my accounts was due to renew is Omega in July, the final account in October.

Accounting for all this

The way i will account for this 143bn spend is to hold it as an asset on the Balance Sheet and as each account starts to use it i will spend that months share through the Profit & Loss Account.

For example, i have bought 8 x 12 months of Omega = 96 months.  Therefore each month is worth 142.8/96 = 1,488 ISK.  And therefore, every month used as their current Omega runs out will cost them 1,488.  Come October when all Accounts are using this Omega the monthly cost will be 10.4bn isk.

I could of course just take the 142.8bn hit in June which would be fair cash accounting but i prefer to use the Profit & Loss accounting and so match my liabilities over time horizon of the service i receive.

7 days free Omega on the In Game Store

The Ingame Store (New Eden Store) is offering 10 free Plex and then 7 days of Omega for free.

30 days Omega normally costs 500 Plex (todays 20% off sale = 425 Plex).  That means 7 days would therefore cost 99 Plex under the 20% off deal.

Obviously, therefore this deal is a no-brainer.

Just remember - get the free Plex first and then buy the 7 day Omega.

20% off Omega in the Ingame Store

As can always be expected, after a real money offer for Plex CCP must find a way of stimulating demand for Plex to give the real money buyers "value for money".

This time, CCP has gone for a 20% off Omega in the Ingame Store: UP TO 20% OFF OMEGA IN NES | EVE Online

So, no 24 month offer which seems to be the norm these days/

With Plex at 6.3m this means the ISK cost of Omega starts at 2.7 billion is per month and, if you go for the 12 month offer, is 1.5 billion ISK per month:

The savings per month are best for the 1 month Omega, and then oddly the 3 and 12 month are the same.

As ever, i will always caution against thinking the 12 month offer is the best thing since sliced bread - you have to consider what else you could have done with the ISK.  But for sure, if you do normally buy the 12 month omega then this offer is a good idea.

What will i do?

I bought a 12 month Omega last June as part of the then Omega / MCT deal which was fantastic - basically meant i got the 12 month Omega for free and several billions ISK on top due to the skill farming profits.

My earliest Omega expiry is July and latest is October.  So i need to start thinking about this.

I have 6 accounts to Omega in total.  I normally go for the 3 month Omega.  So that is 38.4 billion isk, which would be 12.8 billion isk per month cost.

I also am considering brining a new account to Omega for manufacturing.  So adds another 6.4 (or 2.1 billion per month).

I have until 2 June.  I will think about it but perhaps i will go for it for all accounts.  That will take me into the September period where i suspect we will get more deals.

Another 12 month Omega for Free + 24 month MCT - still a good deal in the New Eden Store

The same deal we saw in June 2024 which i wrote about here is back.  The bottom line is that if you are willing to commit at least 2 of your characters in an Account to skill farming with maximum skill point generation then you will get 12 month Omega for free.

Ends on 28 January.

You will need 26bn per account to get the 12 month deal (unless you already have the Plex) and then some more to buy some skill extractors.

That said, it is not as good a deal as June 2024.  The Profits have halved.  And if you only have 2 characters in an Account Skill Farming you will break even (=you get 12 month Omega for free, so that's still a good deal).  If you have 3 characters skill farming then you will get the 12 month Omega for free and make a profit of 16bn over 12 months,

So, right now in the New Eden Store you can buy 1 mth / 3 mths / 6 mths / 12 mths of Omega and enough MCT certificates to keep all your characters in the Account training over the period of the Omega you buy.

Lets do the Maths for a dedicated Skill Farming Account

The below is for a dedicated skill farming account.  Assumes going for the 12 month deal, the Plex cost 5.3m, 45 skill points per minute, cost per skill extractor 535m and cost per skill injector 830m (these are after tax numbers).

Total Set up costs 26bn, profits from buying skill extractors and selling skill injectors 42bn.  Therefore total profits 16bn which is just over 1.3bn per month.

For the June 2024 deal, the Set up costs were lower at 22bn isk because Plex was lower and the Price is Skill Injectors was higher at 900m isk vs 830 today.  Therefore, back in June 2024 the Total profits were 30bn isk which was almost 2.5bn isk per month.

If you did the 3 month deal you would make 8bn profits over all (=0.7bn per month), if you did the 6 month deal you would make 12bn profit (=1.0bn per month).

Lets do the Maths for a 2 character Skill Farming Account

The below is for a normal account where 2 characters are skill farming.  Assumes going for the 12 month deal, the Plex cost 6.3m, 45 skill points per minute, cost per skill extractor 535m and cost per skill injector 830m (these are after tax numbers).

Total Set up costs 26bn, profits from buying skill extractors and selling skill injectors 28bn.  Therefore total profits 2bn which is just over 0.2bn per month.

So, its tights.  Too tight.  If Skill Injectors move down or Skill Extractors move up then it fails.  But . . . . . . you will still end up paying a fraction for 12 month Skill Injectors vs normal.

If you did the 3 month deal you would make 8bn profits over all (=0.7bn per month), if you did the 6 month deal you would make 12bn profit (=1.0bn per month).

Omega for Free

In both cases, therefore, the Omega effectively comes for free as long as the skill farming is kept up.

In the case of the dedicated skill farming account the initial capital is paid off in just under 6 months.

In the case of the normal account the initial capital is paid off in just over 11 months.

Final Word

The maths is worse for 1 / 3 / 6 month deal.  You really need to go for the 12 month deal to get the best outcome.

Eve Real Money deal - Save 50% on Omega + MCT

Eve currently has a real money deal that lets you save 50% on Omega + MCT.  The Store gives the options of 1, 3, 6 or 12 months of Omega +2x MCT, and shows a 50% discount.

In other words, as the image above shows, for £186.80 you can buy 12 months of Omega for an account and have the 2 other characters in that account also training at the same time as the main character.  i.e. all 3 characters training.

Thinking about the savings here

If you had bought 12 months of Omega and 2x 12 months of MCT pre-deal then you would have paid £119.99 for the 12 months of Omega and £223.99 for the 12 months of MCT for each of the other 2 characters = £343.98 in total.  So a saving of 46%.

If you play the game using real money then this looks like a good deal over any of the 1, 3, 6 or 12 months on offer.

That said, the deal does suggest it is a 50% saving where as my own workings suggest 46%.  Only 4% in it so not quibbling but . . . . . 

Also, i am not sure why CCP would launch an ingame great offer on Omega before this real money offer.  I would have thought the ingame offer would have been taken up by players that may have gone for this deal but now have no need of the Omega.

Will i take this?

No, i use ingame ISK to finance my playing of this game.  And i tend to top up my omega on New Eden Store deals when i need to.

Right now, my characters are omega'd out to July-September 2025.

The current Omega Deal is a very good deal at 12 months

Today CCP launched two deals.  One was 20% off for real money Plex.  The other was a 20% discount on all Omegas except 24 months.

It is the Omega deal i am interested in (i have no view on the Plex deal).

Lets think about this.

Plex is at 6.4m.

The table below shows the total cost and cost per month for normal Omega and todays deal.

The cost per month is what we need to focus on but don't forget the total cost.

Clearly, the best deal is for the 12 month Omega where we get it for an effective 1.5bn per month though we have to pay 18.4bn to access this vs a normal 1.9bn per month and paying 23bn to access that.

If you are a normal 12 month buyer then today is a good deal and if you don't do skill farming there is not likely to be a better deal any time soon.

One thing to remember, by paying the 18.4bn now then that isk is gone.  If you reckon you could use than 18.4bn to make more than 23bn in the next 12 months (whilst buying Omega normally at 1 or 3 months) then it may just be a better idea to hold off and buy the normal 12 month Omega offer.

What will i do?

My accounts are omega'd out to June-September 2025.  So i am in no rush and would prefer a MCT / Omega deal.

But i am tempted to go 12 months.  Lets see.

12 month Omega for Free - Very good deal in the New Eden Store

The catch is you have to have around 22bn spare isk to access it - which will flow back to you (and more) over 12 months.

I took the deal on for my 4 Omega Accounts and upgraded 2 of my Alpha Accounts.  Spending 130bn ISK in the process.

The Summary of the below is that you can either have a dedicated skill trading account that will generate you around 2bn profit a month or you can have a normal account where 2 of your characters are skill farming which makes around 500m profit a month.  And therefore, the Omega you get in the deal is effectively for free if you run a normal account or priced less than zero if you run a Skill Farming Account.

Ends on 1 July i believe.

So, right now in the New Eden Store you can buy 1 mth / 3 mths / 6 mths / 12 mths of Omega and enough MCT certificates to keep all your characters in the Account training over the period of the Omega you buy.
