SquadB Gaming

I wrote about this content creator in a prior post where he is taking a character from Alpha to Omega without using real money and using the full range of Eve Online gameplay, not just trading.

Having looked further into his youtube videos (he looks at a few games but mostly Eve Online).

What catches my eye is he talks about what he is doing, why he is doing it and assumes very little prior knowledge.  So a great place to learn how to play Eve Online.

The videos worth focusing on are his playlists for:

Alpha to Omega Venture

The creator has launched a project to take an Account from Alpha to Omega.

The first episode is on youtube, called EVE Online Hardmode:– Episode 1: 0 ISK, No Help, One Character

Starting by creating a new Account and going from there.  No help, no loans.  So starting from scratch.  Seems he will explore a number of routes to get there - so will be interesting which he uses the most to gather the isk.  My bet is on trading but lets see.

The creator is doing this as a break from his normal game style and wants to document the journey.

Episode 1 sets the tone for the entire series as with creating the new account, the starter missions, the first income sources, and the mindset needed to grow from nothing in New Eden.

The Youtube channel / Eve Online

There is a lot of useful videos there covering Eve Online including Industry, Trading and other isk making ventures.  Full use of Excel.

Almost 14k subscribers.  First video 18 years ago.

It is best viewed in his playlists to get a sense of what is available.

Examples are:

As far as i can tell this is a collection of his videos.  https://squadb.com/

Player Created Music for Eve Online

Sticking to Spotify (apologies to other platforms, this is the one i have on my iphone) i was looking for any music created by Eve Online Players.

Surprisingly hard to find Eve player made music on Spotify.  Some prior music has gone.

I have created a page at the top of the blog to keep updated.

I can see three, i suspect there are many more on Spotify - so please let me know.

This is my music, about being a Trader in Eve Online.

Currently i have an Album of 9 songs totalling 34 minutes.

Obviously i think it is good enough for me! . . . . . and the other 6 monthly listeners.

Has one song about his Trading effort.  379 monthly listeners.  Its a catchy tune.  is the opening the closing music to his Oz Show.

Has 4 Albums up (one of which, the most recent, has one song).  60 songs in total.  11 monthly listeners.

The Dance of the Moon Dust album is suitably relaxing and upbeat, as you would expect from someone who does mining, as you can see on his show.

Travelers Amongst Stars similarly relaxing and upbeat.

Darken Times album feels a bit darker.

Fenris Creations Opens Carbon Engine to the World - now open source

Fenris Creations (the old CCP) has released its Carbon game engine to open source.

The Carbon Engine code can be found on github.

Seems it was released at the start of July - i missed that.

What is not included

Game‑specific code such as EVE’s economy, gameplay logic, and proprietary licensed components is not part of the open‑source release.

Why release it?

A quote from Ben Hunter of Fenris to gamesindustry.biz:

Seems nothing like third party supporters pitching in to help with the code.

"Members of the community have already been submitting pull requests (PRs) – proposed changes to a codebase – for security fixes, and there's been chatter about someone making a web app to watch Eve Online content."

"Fenris has a long history of building communities and engaging with them. If you look back to the early days of Eve Online, when we exposed our application programming interface (API), that was the start of our effort to engage with the community and let them build something with it."

and then the point that there is nothing really of commercial value in it now:

"We arrived at this point two and a half to three years ago, where we decided there's nothing really special about our sauce in terms of the actual code. We, and the community, would be better served by actually getting it out there, having more eyes on it, so that we can actually learn and grow from that, and people can do crazy things with it, which we're very excited to see."

Really so simple?

Perhaps not so simple:

It is old and complex, with architecture dating back to the early 2000s

Not plug‑and‑play like Unity or Unreal

Missing documentation in places

Built for Fenris / CCP’s specific workflows, meaning newcomers may struggle to adapt it for new projects.

What could this mean?

In part this is "interesting" but take this one step further and we could be heading down the road of allowing third party apps to be created for Eve Online.

Very much like you see on World of Warcraft and other games where those apps make the whole gameplay hugely enjoyable.

Fenris somewhat alludes to that in their press release:

"For Fenris Creations, fully open-sourcing Carbon is the next step in a long history of collaboration with players and developers. EVE Online’s community has built around the game for decades through third-party tools, public APIs, economic analysis, corporation infrastructure, alliance logistics, and player-created services. Opening Carbon brings that philosophy closer to the foundation layer, giving developers, researchers, players, and builders access to technology they can use, contribute to, and build upon."

But, lets see what sort of ideas / products this spawns.

If picked up by interested developers who have the time and capability to get their heads around 20 year hold code then this could really go somewhere.

£9,393 gifted in 2025: Twitch - my subs, gift subbing and related charities donations + Patreon fees

£9,393 gifted in 2025

So i took a look at this in January last year so i wondered what 2025 was in terms of Twitch - my subs, gift subbing and related charities donations + Patreon fees

Being one of these middle aged sorts I am a late discoverer to twitch.  I sort of found it when looking at content for Eve Online around 2022.

And my first gift sub was in May 2023 to ContempoEnterprises who is still going strong.

Since then i now pay monthly subs to some content creators i like, get involved in gifting subs, donate to Charities fronted by Eve content creators on Twitch and contribute to Patreon fees.

When i checked how much i had given since the start to the end of 2024 i found that the answer was £15,000.

So, i was wondering what the gifting value was for 2025.

The answer is £9,393.

. . . . . . and its all in my budget, so no worries there.

Therefore, total given to content creators and their charities up to the end of 2025 = £24,000

Looking at 2025

Monthly Subs (=£410)

I currently have monthly subs for 9 content creators.  They come at about £5 per month.

contempoenterprises (full 12 months)

oz_eve (full 12 months)

eve_university (full 12 months)

funinc (full 12 months)

bigglesworthxd (full 12 months)

theoneandonlysidar (full 12 months)

nth_dimensional (full 12 months)

EveMiner01 (that was new in 2025 and still going, 10 months)

warping wombat (that was new in 2026, so does not count for 2025)

Gift Subs (=£6,146)

I have gifted 1,525 subs.

This is where i gift a monthly sub to a specific or random member of the audience.  I can gift anywhere from 1 to 200 subs at any one time.  And i suspect i have done the complete range.

I will say right now as i said it last year, Twitch do it well and they know what they are doing: starting or sustaining a hype train is exhilarating; gifting with less than a minute to go on the hype train is great fun; taking content creators to new records puts me on a high.

That said, i am noticing that the content creators are keeping less of the gift subs and therefore i am happy to donate to content creators using alternative channels if they prefer.

There was a surprisingly small list this year.

oz_eve - gifted 1389 subs

theoneandonlysidar - gifted 56 subs

contempoenterprises - gifted 54 subs

schadsquatch - gifted 15 subs

. . . . . and then a few others (including one World of Tanks content creator) making up the rest.

Most commonly in batches of 5 at a time, singles are the next common and then a few 10s and 20s, 4 100s and 1 mighty 200.  Though i now see that the max that can be gifted in one shot is 1000.

Content Creator Direct Donations (=£700)

These are donations for now that are direct to a content creator for a specific task.  If the content creator has publicised the reason then i can name them, otherwise they remain anonymous

Anonymous - content creator lost their job £700

Charities (=£1,732)

Eve players often have 24 hour charity streams for their favourite causes which i donate to.  Mostly in none GBP currencies.

schadsquatch / ExtraLife $1000 (i can see a £798 so i am guessing this is it)

schadsquatch / The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation CAD + USD = £175

schadsquatch / Canada's Children's Hospital $642 (£490)

Eveminer01 / St. Jude Children's Research Hospital $200 (£153)

not sure who / Gamers Outreach $152 (£116)

Patreon - Eve related (=£405)

I also contribute to Patreon for the following Eve Content generators, some monthly and some annually.

The Oz (Oz_Eve) for 1 year, ongoing =£186

Declarations of War for 12 months, ongoing = £144

Eve Tycoon for 12 months, ongoing = £75

What for 2026?

Well, this all depends on the content created and calls on my money from other deserving parties (i.e. political Parties, but that is a subject not for here!)

New Podcast - Eve Compass

There is a new Eve Online Podcast in town.

It is only on youtube at present.

Eve Compass.  Describes itself as "EVE Compass: EVE Online industry guides, Podcast, tutorials, career agent walkthroughs, ship fittings, and relaxing space ambience for sleep."

Content to date

Six videos to date, 2 of which are interviews with Eve Players.  One on an Industrial Corp in Null-Sec and one on a Fuel making corp in High-Sec.  3 general guides and 1 ambient music video.

Early days but well worth a listen.

Summaries of the two interview videos

Null-Sec Industry in Providence: Arkenstone CEO DEATHROE Annages

The episode features DEATHROE Annages, CEO of Arkenstone Foundries Inc, discussing how to build and run a null‑sec industrial corporation in Providence.  It covers his journey from solo mining in 2012 through wars, burnout, rebuilding with real‑life friends, and ultimately running a thriving industrial group under the Reeloaded alliance. The conversation dives into corp management, buyback programs, PvP balance, Catalyst‑patch impacts, and long‑term ambitions.

Started as a solo miner in 2012 → expanded into a corp with real‑life friends → survived wars and burnout → rebuilt into a Providence‑based industrial corp.

Providence life: Operating industry in hostile null‑sec requires discipline, logistics, and defensive readiness.

Corp management:
  - Running a null‑sec industrial corp can feel like a “second job.”
  - Recruitment, retention, and keeping culture healthy are major themes.

Industry operations:
  - Buyback programs and structured production pipelines are central to keeping members active.
  - Balancing PvE/industry with required PvP participation is a constant tension.

Game changes:
  - Discussion of the Catalyst update and how it affects industrial activity and ship losses.

Future goals:
  - Grow the corp sustainably while staying true to industrial roots.
  - Maintain sovereignty and defend assets without becoming a pure PvP group.

Building a Fuel Empire: ARDCO CEO Ardel Corvallon

The episode features Ardel Corvallon, CEO of ARDCO and EVE Online content creator, discussing how he built a trusted fuel‑block supply empire across high‑sec and empire regions. It covers ARDCO’s origins, rapid growth, the challenges of industrial scaling, and balancing corporation leadership with YouTube content creation.

Started from humble solo‑industry beginnings
- Quickly evolved into a fast‑growing corporation supplying fuel across empire space.
- Built a reputation for reliability and trust in a market where consistency matters.

Running a Fuel Empire
- Fuel production and logistics require tight supply‑chain discipline
- Scaling operations means managing:
  - Steady ice/mineral sourcing
  - Manufacturing throughput
  - Delivery reliability
  - Customer trust
- ARDCO became a go‑to service for fuel blocks in empire regions.

Content Creation + CEO Life
- Ardel also runs the EVE ARDCO YouTube channel.
- The episode explores the tension between:
  - Running a corporation
  - Producing content
  - Maintaining in‑game operations

Community & Growth
- ARDCO’s growth was driven by:
  - Clear service identity
  - Consistent delivery
  - A welcoming environment for new players
- The corp’s trajectory shows how industry‑focused groups can thrive

Eve Online: In Game News and Eve Economy Content - a Page on this Blog

I have updated the Eve Content Page on this blog which shows all the content that i am aware of that touches on the Eve Economy.

From Blogs, to Twitch shows, youtube, websites and podcasts.

I have added Gaming since the '70s who has a youtube series about his work on running a Corp and now running a station also.

I have also added From zero to fuel tycoon who has just started a youtube series where he details how he is moving from nothing into Fuel Block manufacturing.

There are other Eve shows out there that i watch - but because they tend not to touch on the Eve Economy i don't include them on this page.

I should probably make another page for them.
