The Shuttle - a cheap and safe(ish) way to travel around high, low and null sec

I have written about this before but it is well worth repeating (i was reminded of it this week as i needed to either make a 59 jump journey or less than 20 by going through low sec):

If you are like me, the idea of flying outside of High Sec fills you with dread.

But, Eve is not Eve if you don't at least poke our nose outside of High Sec and eventually you may need to set up shop outside of High Sec to make your billions.

It took me a while to work this out but the easiest way (for me anyway) to fly from highsec to an NPC station (or any accessible station) in Low / Null sec is to fly the boring old starter shuttle.

Any player can fly any faction's shuttle.

They are the only ship that are naturally immune from warp bubbles.

Let that sink in.

Base time to warp is 2.22 seconds which, with skills of Evasive Manoeuvring and Spaceship Command, can be brought to below the critical 2 seconds.  Mine is at 1.73 seconds.

They only have 10m3 cargo - but still, can carry blueprints et al in that.  For sure, they can be caught in gate camps with smart bombs.  So i only use the shuttle to move myself from Point A to Point B rather than haul fancy pants blueprints on the cheap.  And when i am in systems that look crowded in low/null sec to don't fly directly from gate to gate.

So far. this has never failed me.

Players won't travel 15 jumps to save 100m isk

One of the key things for players to learn when starting out in Regional Trading (buying items in one Region to sell in another Region) is that many other players will not travel even 1 jump to save 100m.

The 15 jumps in the title refers to the distance between Dodixie and Jita.  In my example, if an item is for sale in Dodixie for 125m isk but on sale in Jita for 25m isk - a player will not travel 15 jumps and back to buy it.  Neither will that player have an alt buy it in Jita and courier it to Dodixie.

Time is more precious.  Players don't have that time to spare.

And that is the service you are really providing.  You are offering a Buyer the choice of wasting 30 minutes of their game time to save 100m isk.  And many players will find spending that additional 100m a fair offer and take it.

Exceptions to this rule: Players are careful what they spend when it comes to consumable items like ammo or items that are part of a manufacturing chain (you are up against players with spreadsheets here who probably take their wives to Burger King to save some money).

Otherwise, in your mind think of your profit margin = fair markup + service of time saved.

The one thing to watch is that if you really start to price gauge then you will attract competitors.  So there is that happy middle ground to sit in.

Beginners Guide to Gate Ganking

This is a guide from MacGybo about Gate Ganking in HighSec on youtube.

For us, this is a useful guide on how to avoid being ganked and therefore makes it relevant to making isk!

This may also be a sign that MacGybo is coming back on youtube - which would be great, i loved his content.

I first wrote on MacGybo back in 2022 - his videos are helpful and he freely advises on what to do to avoid being ganged.  Well worth listening to them in the background - he has one of those easy listening voices that drift across the room and sinks in.

He explains clearly and in an easy manner what simple steps can be taken to persuade gankers to let you go.  In part because there are plenty of haulers who make easy and juicy targets.

And as far as i can tell, he does the show from an underground bunker or his kitchen table.

arrow keys / mouse roll to change prices

For those of us who put trades onto the market, a staple part of that operation is to change the price over time as competition comes in and undercuts us.

And therefore finding a fast and efficient process is important.  Inputting a new price is slow and prone to errors.

There are two ways to quickly change the price once the Modify Order box is opened:

1) when the curser is in the Price box, use the keyboard up/down arrow keys to change the price.  It will change the price by one tick.

2) place the mouse pointer over the price and use the mouse scroll button.  It will also change the price by one tick.  And the mouse scroll button can be rapidly scrolled to change the price by a larger amount (i.e. multiple ticks).

Getting into and around low and null sec so very easily - the shuttle

If you are like me, the idea of flying outside of High Sec fills you with dread.

That said, i am pretty sure i need to set up Trading locations in Low and Null Sec to grow my business more.

It took my a while to work this out but the easiest way (for me anyway) to fly from highsec to an NPC station (or any accessible station) in Low / Null sec is to fly the boring old starter shuttle.

Any player can fly any faction's shuttle.

They are the only ship that are naturally immune from warp bubbles.

20% off Omega in the Ingame Store

As can always be expected, after a real money offer for Plex CCP must find a way of stimulating demand for Plex to give the real money buyers "value for money".

This time, CCP has gone for a 20% off Omega in the Ingame Store: UP TO 20% OFF OMEGA IN NES | EVE Online

So, no 24 month offer which seems to be the norm these days/

With Plex at 6.3m this means the ISK cost of Omega starts at 2.7 billion is per month and, if you go for the 12 month offer, is 1.5 billion ISK per month:

The savings per month are best for the 1 month Omega, and then oddly the 3 and 12 month are the same.

As ever, i will always caution against thinking the 12 month offer is the best thing since sliced bread - you have to consider what else you could have done with the ISK.  But for sure, if you do normally buy the 12 month omega then this offer is a good idea.

What will i do?

I bought a 12 month Omega last June as part of the then Omega / MCT deal which was fantastic - basically meant i got the 12 month Omega for free and several billions ISK on top due to the skill farming profits.

My earliest Omega expiry is July and latest is October.  So i need to start thinking about this.

I have 6 accounts to Omega in total.  I normally go for the 3 month Omega.  So that is 38.4 billion isk, which would be 12.8 billion isk per month cost.

I also am considering brining a new account to Omega for manufacturing.  So adds another 6.4 (or 2.1 billion per month).

I have until 2 June.  I will think about it but perhaps i will go for it for all accounts.  That will take me into the September period where i suspect we will get more deals.

Another 12 month Omega for Free + 24 month MCT - still a good deal in the New Eden Store

The same deal we saw in June 2024 which i wrote about here is back.  The bottom line is that if you are willing to commit at least 2 of your characters in an Account to skill farming with maximum skill point generation then you will get 12 month Omega for free.

Ends on 28 January.

You will need 26bn per account to get the 12 month deal (unless you already have the Plex) and then some more to buy some skill extractors.

That said, it is not as good a deal as June 2024.  The Profits have halved.  And if you only have 2 characters in an Account Skill Farming you will break even (=you get 12 month Omega for free, so that's still a good deal).  If you have 3 characters skill farming then you will get the 12 month Omega for free and make a profit of 16bn over 12 months,

So, right now in the New Eden Store you can buy 1 mth / 3 mths / 6 mths / 12 mths of Omega and enough MCT certificates to keep all your characters in the Account training over the period of the Omega you buy.

Lets do the Maths for a dedicated Skill Farming Account

The below is for a dedicated skill farming account.  Assumes going for the 12 month deal, the Plex cost 5.3m, 45 skill points per minute, cost per skill extractor 535m and cost per skill injector 830m (these are after tax numbers).

Total Set up costs 26bn, profits from buying skill extractors and selling skill injectors 42bn.  Therefore total profits 16bn which is just over 1.3bn per month.

For the June 2024 deal, the Set up costs were lower at 22bn isk because Plex was lower and the Price is Skill Injectors was higher at 900m isk vs 830 today.  Therefore, back in June 2024 the Total profits were 30bn isk which was almost 2.5bn isk per month.

If you did the 3 month deal you would make 8bn profits over all (=0.7bn per month), if you did the 6 month deal you would make 12bn profit (=1.0bn per month).

Lets do the Maths for a 2 character Skill Farming Account

The below is for a normal account where 2 characters are skill farming.  Assumes going for the 12 month deal, the Plex cost 6.3m, 45 skill points per minute, cost per skill extractor 535m and cost per skill injector 830m (these are after tax numbers).

Total Set up costs 26bn, profits from buying skill extractors and selling skill injectors 28bn.  Therefore total profits 2bn which is just over 0.2bn per month.

So, its tights.  Too tight.  If Skill Injectors move down or Skill Extractors move up then it fails.  But . . . . . . you will still end up paying a fraction for 12 month Skill Injectors vs normal.

If you did the 3 month deal you would make 8bn profits over all (=0.7bn per month), if you did the 6 month deal you would make 12bn profit (=1.0bn per month).

Omega for Free

In both cases, therefore, the Omega effectively comes for free as long as the skill farming is kept up.

In the case of the dedicated skill farming account the initial capital is paid off in just under 6 months.

In the case of the normal account the initial capital is paid off in just over 11 months.

Final Word

The maths is worse for 1 / 3 / 6 month deal.  You really need to go for the 12 month deal to get the best outcome.

For those that want to see the 3 / 6 / 12 month data in one place

(these are before tax)

My Ground Rules of Pricing an Item for Sale

Worth saying straight away that this is specific to my strategy of focusing outside of Jita and on slow moving items that have little competition.

The golden rule is to achieve a 25% item profit margin: what this means is if i buy something for 750m then i will put it up for sale for 1bn.  Therefore the profit before taxes should be 250m which is 25% of the 1bn sales price.  This is driven by my tax, courier costs, some sort of estimate of relisting fees coming to around 9% of sales price (i need to update this given the recent tax changes) leaving me with a 16% overall margin (=25-9).  I.e. for every 1bn of sales i make 160m of profit to go towards plex / omega.

Price relative to competition: if your target price to achieve the 25% profit margin is, say, 410,000,000 isk but competition is pricing at 620,000,000 then put your order in at 599,900,000.  It looks a good deal and is clearly better than the 25% margin target.

Price relative to last Sale: again, if your target price to achieve the 25% profit margin is, say, 410,000,000 isk but the last sale was done very recently at 520,000,000 and there is no competition then put your order in at 499,900000.  It achieves the 25% margin target but still looks a good deal at the higher price.

Price one tick below the round number: if the target Sale price is, for example, 350,000,000 then put the Sell Order up for 349,900,000.  This is common retail practice.  It gives the impression that you are offering a deal, have thought about the price and that you are active.

In the Trade Hubs of Amarr, Dodixie, Rens and Hek you do not need to compete with Sell Orders outside those Stations:  If the lowest sale price for an item is 205,000,000 in the station where as there is a Sell Order for the same item 1 jump away for 190,000,000 the you are good to price your item at 204,900,000.  Players will not travel even one jump outside a Trade Hub to buy a cheaper item.

Pricing for items that sell in 2s or more (i.e. mining lasers sell in 2s and mining drones sell in 5s): if someone is undercutting your item here for a large amount with a single item of theirs then there is no need to undercut them.  Given these items sell in 2s or more then a Buyer will look at the total cost of the bundle and therefore the competitor undercutting will merely be making the bundle look cheaper.

Always undercut competition: everyday you must update your orders and undercut the competition.  You must always give the impression that you are there every day and will always undercut.  Competition will eventually get tired and go after easy targets.  In my time in Eve Online there is only once i have been forced out of the market.

Don't buyout a cheap competitor sell order: unless it is below the Jita Buy Price; you never know if the competitor has a lot more where that came from.

Make sure you don't go to a discount to Jita Sell Orders: i use the Eve Online Excel Addon for this but over time Jita prices will rise or a competitor will try and take the price below Jita prices.  If Jita prices rise then i dont really mind, i will still be making a good profit on my purchase price.  But if a competitor is trying to take the price below Jita prices then i wont follow.

Double-clicking in the Station opens the Inventory Window

This is one of those useful-to-know tips that speeds up your gameplayer.

If you are docked, then double-clicking your left mouse button will open the ship's cargo hold.

If you then set the "settings" on the cargo window to "Always show the full tree" then the double-click will always open the normal Inventory window.

Copying from the Quickbar into Excel (or Word or Notepad etc)

This is even easier than copying from Excel into the Quickbar.

Quite simply, highlight the items in the Quickbar you want to copy and then use Ctrl C to put them in your clipboard and then paste then into Excel (or Word or Notepad etc).

Nothing more complex than that.

Step 1) highlight the items you want to copy in the Quickbar

Step 2) press Ctrl C

Step 3) paste them into Excel

You can then use this input directly into for the Excel Addin.

Copying from excel into the quickbar

This is a feature i use a lot to simplify and speed up my operations in the markets in Eve Online.

It is perfectly possible to copy items from Excel (or Word, or Notepad, etc) into the Quickbar in the Market Window.

For example

Take the 8 items in the Excel sheet below (it could also be in Notepad or Word)

A very simple copy <CTRL C> will put these in your clipboard . . . .

. . ..  . and then on the Market Quickbar in the Eve Client, press the "Import Quickbar" button

. . . . . will bring up the options to Add or Replace the Quickbar.  Select the "Add items and folders listed in the clipboard to Quickbar" option.

Will then put these items into the Quckbar at the bottom below all your folders:

12 month Omega for Free - Very good deal in the New Eden Store

The catch is you have to have around 22bn spare isk to access it - which will flow back to you (and more) over 12 months.

I took the deal on for my 4 Omega Accounts and upgraded 2 of my Alpha Accounts.  Spending 130bn ISK in the process.

The Summary of the below is that you can either have a dedicated skill trading account that will generate you around 2bn profit a month or you can have a normal account where 2 of your characters are skill farming which makes around 500m profit a month.  And therefore, the Omega you get in the deal is effectively for free if you run a normal account or priced less than zero if you run a Skill Farming Account.

Ends on 1 July i believe.

So, right now in the New Eden Store you can buy 1 mth / 3 mths / 6 mths / 12 mths of Omega and enough MCT certificates to keep all your characters in the Account training over the period of the Omega you buy.

Lets do the Maths:

The below is for a dedicated skill farming account.  Assumes going for the 12 month deal, the Plex cost 5.3m, 42 skill points per minute, cost per skill extractor 535m and cost per skill injector 900m.

Total Set up costs 22bn, total profits 48m.  Therefore total profits 26bn which is just over 2bn per month.

The below is for a normal account where 2 characters are skill farming.  Assumes going for the 12 month deal, the Plex cost 5.3m, 42 skill points per minute, cost per skill extractor 535m and cost per skill injector 900m.

Total Set up costs 22bn, total profits 32m.  Therefore total profits 10bn which is just over 0.8bn per month.

In both cases, therefore, the Omega effectively comes for free as long as the skill farming is kept up.

In the case of the dedicated skill farming account the initial capital is paid off in just under 6 months.

In the case of the normal account the initial capital is paid off in just over 8 months.

An old Eve Business Blog Returns "I wanna be a Trillionaire, so frickin' bad..."

A former blog, with the same format as mine, I wanna be a Trillionaire, so frickin' bad... is back.

It is a great blog for those who like to follow the story of players who dedicate their Eve gameplay to making ISK.

It gave good monthly updates showing where their current wealth stood and what had happened, as well as other blog posts talking about events and their actions in Eve to make ISK.

It went from November 2015 to December 2020, and now is back again.  Current wealth around 800bn iSK.

I am looking forwards to reading the new posts.

The latest Platinum Starter Pack deal on the New Eden Store is a winner

As detailed in the New Eden News there is a range of new Starter Packs for a limited time.

The summary of the below: means that for a 10bn outlay you are either getting 500k skill points and 2 MCTs for free or you are getting 90 days Omega at half price.

Each starter pack can only be purchased once per Account but they are new - hence, if you purchased a Platinum Start Pack a few months ago you can still now purchase this one.

What do you get?

For the Platinum Pack, it costs 2000 Plex and you get:
  • 90 days Omega
  • 2 x MCT Certificates
  • Specialist 'Boost' Cerebral Accelerator
  • 500,000 Skill Points
  • 10 x Skill Extractor
  • Golem State Police SKIN
  • Paladin Imperial Jubilee SKIN
  • Leshak Metamateria Exotica SKIN
  • Vargur Yoiul Star SKIN
  • Kronos Caille Neon SKIN
  • Charon Vitalshift EGO SKIN
  • Orca Capsuleer Elite XIX SKIN

It is not as good a deal as the Platinum Pack deal in November where the Pack costs 1500 Plex and you got 650k Skill Points but it still makes sense.

Lets ignore the skins and focus on the rest.

I Omega my accounts so any deal that allows me to buy Omega at or below market prices and get something for free gets my attention.

Alternative 1

The cost of 2000 Plex at 5m isk per Plex is 10bn.

90 days Omega currently costs 1200 on the New Eden Store, which would cost 6bn isk today.

If you chose to sell the 10 Skill Extractors right now to Buy Orders in Jita you would get 10 x 467m x (1-3.6%) =  4.5bn isk after taxes.

Hence, the 90 days Omega + the 10 Skill Extractors comes to 10.5bn isk vs the 10bn isk cost to buy the Pack . . . . . . which means  the 500k Skill Points and 2 Multiple Character Training Certificates are in for free

Alternative 2

The cost of 2000 Plex at 5m isk per Plex is 10bn.

if my characters earn 37.5 skill points per minute then over 30 days my 2 characters that use the MCTs will earn 37.5 x 60 x 24 x 30 x 2 = 3.2m.  Add in the 500k skill points also given = 3.7m extra skill points.  That requires 7 Skill Extractors to convert those to 7 Large Skill Injectors and then leaves me with 3 remaining Skill Extractors.

If i sold those Skill Injectors and Extractors to Jita Buy Orders today i would get (7x838x(1-3.6%)) + (3x467x(1-3.6%)) = 7bn isk after taxes.

That therefore means i would be getting 90 day Omege for 3 bn isk vs the normal price of 6bn isk.  So 90 day omega at half price.

Alternative 3

This one is for old characters that are in alpha status but can still achieve 37.5 skill point per minute when put into Omega Status.

Fire these characters back up again, apply the 3 month Omega and 2 MCTs and you effectively get 5 months of Skill Farming = 5 x 37.5 x 60 x 24 x 30 = 8.1m skill points.  Actually you get (4.9m + 1.6m + 1.6m over the 3 characters in the Account).  Add in the 500k Skill points to change that to 5.0m + 2.0m + 1.6m.

That takes 17 Skill Extractors to create 17 Large Skill Injectors.  Therefore you would need to buy 7 Skill Extractors from Jita Sell Orders

Selling those to Buy Orders in Jita gets ((17x838x(1-3.6%)) - (7x492) = 10.3bn

So, at 37.5 skill points per minute there is a very small 300m profit to be made.

If you were maxed out you could achieve 45 skill points a minute which means you make 20 Skill injectors and need 10 Skill extractors = 11.2bn isk, or a 1.2bn isk profit.

Outcome

I bought the starter pack for each of my four Omega accounts.  I am likely to take the Alternative 2 route.  So 40bn outlay will generate me 28bn isk from Skill Farming and means i would have bought my normal 3 month Omega for all four Accounts for 12 bn instead of 24 bn isk.

Platinum Starter Pack Offer for 48 hours - great deal, 3 months Omega for free.

If like me you Plex your account and tend to take the three month Omega deal for 1200 Plex then this offer is a great deal.

The deal

Only one per account.

In the new Eden Store (accessed ingame) there is an offer for the Platinum Starter Pack.

It costs you 1501 Plex.

It gives you:
3x 30 day Omega
10x Skill Extractors
2x Multiple Pilot Training
650,000 skill points
a number of skins and suits
1x Expert 'boost' Cerebral Accelerator (this activates immediately on the character that bought the deal, +10 to all learning attributes, lasts for 10 days)

The numbers

Plex is currently selling for 5m, so the cost of the deal is 1501x5.032 = 7.553bn

costing up what i get:

  • 3 months of Omega i can get for 1200 Plex in the New Eden Store = 1200 x 5.032 = 6.038bn
  • I am ignoring the 2 months of Multiple Pilot Training because i don't normally Skill Farm
  • 10 Skill Extractors can be sold for around 400m each = 10x400 = 4bn
  • And for now lets ignore the Skill Points
  • The Skins and Suits come to a few sundry millions

So, the Deal gives me 10.2bn worth of items.

Or, put it another way, if i sold the Extractors i would get 3 months of omega for (6.038-4.0) = 2bn isk and then on top of that 2 Multiple Pilot Training Certificates and 650,000 skill points.

If i then skill farmed and assumed i would make 37.5 skill points per minute per character then i would get 37.5 x 60 x 24 x 30 x 2 = 3,240,000 skill points.  That gives me 6 skill extractors to fill (at 500,000 skill points each).  Each Skill Extractor makes a profit of around lets say 400m = 2.4bn.

and that then covers the rest of the cost of the Omega.  In other words, i get 3 months Omega for Free.

And some fancy pants suits and skins.  And 650,000 Skill Points to advance my training character.  And what ever was left from the Multiple Pilot Training certificates that i could not put into an extractor.

The Omega + MCT deal on the New Eden Store = brilliant offer

Right off the bat, this offer has either come to an end or been withdrawn by CCP.

Strange Net goes through it all and below is my writeup of the maths and me going for it.

What was on offer?

On the ingame store, the New Eden Store, CCP was offering Omega deals + Multiple Character Training (3 characters) bundle.

This was a brilliant deal

The table below shows what was on offer:

To explain the table, take the first row:

CCP was offering 1 month Omega + 2 Multiple Character Training certificates for 600 Plex.

The normal cost of 1 month Omega, shown in the table in the next section, is 500 Plex.

In other words, it would cost 100 Plex for 2 Multiple Character Training certificates which comes to 50 Plex per month across the Account.

50 Plex at 5.2m isk costs 260m isk.  Multiple Character Training certificates on the market costs 4bn isk or, in the ingame store costs 350 Plex.

I went for it

I was coming up to the point where i had to renew my 3 month Omega across my 4 Accounts anyway but i was waiting for the Plex price to fall to 4.6m (i had sold all my Plex when it spike to 5.4m in a recent deal).

However, even with Plex at 5.2m i decided that this deal was too good to miss and went for it.

Therefore, i spent 28bn isk to buy the 3 month omega + 6 month MCT across 4 accounts.

How to think of this deal

I was always going to buy the 3 month Omega anyway - so that is a sunk cost.  Therefore, it is what i pay for Multiple Character Training that i focus on.

In effect, i bought 6 Multiple Character Training certificates  in 4 Accounts for 600 Plex = 3.1bn isk.

If i had bought this in the market, i would be paying 2bn isk per character per month.  I other words, 2bn x 8 characters x 3 months = 48 bn isk or, in the ingame store, i would pay 1500 Plex x 4 Accounts = 6000 Plex.

Which ever way i look at it, i got around a 90% discount.

Entering the Skill farming market

Now, i have 11 characters that have more than 5.5m skill points (the amount required before skill points can be extracted).

Each character generates 37.5 skill points a minute (i have not maxed them out by mapping, merely got the best implants).

That means, over 3 months i can generate 53m skill points:

Each skill extractor can take 500,000 skill points so i will need around 107 skill extractors.

Today, the difference in price between a Skill Extractor and Skill Injector is 400m isk.  If that difference holds (i doubt it, but lets dream) then over 3 months i would generate 42bn isk before Broker Fees and Transaction Taxes.

Easily covering the 3.1bn outlay.

This has to be the best deal i have seen.

Eden Trade - another market trader

Eden Trade, a market trillionaire, has two recent talks where he goes through his strategy that yields him 2bn profits a day.

Two recent shows to watch

Firstly, he was on the Oz Show - Interview with Eden Trade where he talks for over an hour with Oz about his trading strategies supported by slides.

Secondly, in Eve University he game a class Large Scale Trading for just over an hour talking about his operations with large scale trading.  Again, supported by slides.

Both are in depth talks where Eden is up front and frank about how he does it.

His Operations

Eden started his market activities 4 years ago by building Trade Hubs.  Now has 15,000 orders (yes, 15 thousand) valued at 1 trillion.  His operation does 2500 transactions a day.

Like me, he buys from Sell Orders in Jita - it is quicker than putting up a Buy Order.

He uses spreadsheets and links them in with the game to speed up the Buying process.

He has 20 Omega Accounts.

Generates revenues of 5-7bn and profits of 2bn (those are superb margins).

Where can Eden Trade be found?

Eden Trade can be found in Discord and youtube.

And i understand is doing a presentation at Fanfest in September.

I sold all my Plex - will buy back later

CCP are becoming more aggressive in their deals.  It all really kicked off last September when there was a material discount on the amount of Plex required to buy Omega.

The ingame store (New Eden Store) is offering a 2-for-1 sale on Skill Extractors and Daily Alpha Injectors.

I am not sure when it ends.

CCP deals to buy cheap items for Plex always drives the price of Plex Higher

The effect in both cases is that the demand for Plex goes up as players pile in to buy the Plex to then buy the cheaper Omega or, in todays case, the cheaper Skill Extractors.

And then the Price of Plex will fall back

Once the deal is over the surplus demand for Plex falls away and so the Plex price comes back to where it was before.

Where to find the analysis of this all

Oz Eve, one of the go to people for analysis of what is happening on Eve Markets talked about it in his weekly Twitch Stream on Saturday (he likes to call it Plexageddon), starts talking about it16 minutes in, and has a dedicated youtube report The Oz Report which talks about all this about 1:45 in.

The effect this time is to reduce the price Skill Extractors (as expected) by 40% and increase the price of Plex by 25-30%.

i.e. Skill Extractors would halve but we need to rebase this upwards given the rise in Plex Price.

The Trade to do every time is the same

For me it is simple, i sell all my Plex and then buy it back later.

I had 4500 Plex which i sold at 5.6m isk.

This stock pile had cost on average 4.4m per Plex.  So that is a nice 27% profit before taking off the 3.6% Sales Tax.

In the next week or so i will rebuild my stock pile at a lower price.

Technically, it was still possible to make an additional profit by converting your Plex to Skill Extractors and selling the Skill Extractors.  But i am a simple man and want to keep all things simple.

Will the Plex price fall back?

It should do.  The main risk is if players now come to expect these deals to happen every 3 months then there will be a stronger than normal rebuild of Plex in inventory.

The events in January and April recovered quickly.

Will the Skill Extractor price recover?

Again, it should do though may take longer.  Plex can be used for more actions where as Skill Extractors can only be used for one thing.

That said, stocking up on Skill Extractors to sell back later is not a bad idea.

A key secondary reason to hold Plex

These more aggressive deals means that for market operators there is an additional reason to hold Plex.  Every 3-6 months an opportunity will present itself to trade in your surplus Plex to make a nice instant profit.

As i write this article, the Buy Price for Plex in Jita is 5.7m isk.

Double click to Buy an item on the market

I never knew this existed.

Traditionally, when i was buying items on the market i would hover over the item listed in the market, right click and select "Buy this".  That would then take me to the normal Buy window where i could enter the quantity.

Actually, all i needed to do was double click the item listed on the market and that takes me to the normal Buy window

Makes life much quicker!

Replacing or Merging Quickbars

One of the issues when starting a new account is to take some common folders from the Quickbar in one Account to another without re-creating it from scratch.

Nothing more tedious than creating new folders with the same items in the Quickbar for each Account.

It can be done, quite easily

Fortunately, as pointed out by Steev almost a year ago, this can be easily done.

Eve gives the option of replacing an entire Quickbar with an existing Quickbar or merging one Quickbar into anaother.

The merging feature is really useful.

The steps

On the Market window:

1) from the Account with the Quickbar you want to export from, press the "Export Quickbar" button and it will give you the option to "copy Quickbar to clipboard"

2) in the Account you want to import the Quickbar from, press the "Import Quickbar" button and it will then give you the option to Add the items and folders in the clipboard to the Quickbar or to replace the existing Quickbar with the one on the clipboard.

In the case of the above example, i chose to Add the Quickbar, i,e. merge the Quickbars.
