Important to stay competitive

This can not be said enough.  It is easier to keep a player from entering a market than to evict them once they are in.

All efforts are better made to holding into your market position.

What do i mean by that?

If i am the market leader in selling an item in a Region or Trade Hub then i do not want to share this with other players.

For sure, new players will try and enter my markets but at that point i must make sure that my Sell Order is the most competitive once a day.  The new entrant must know that their time and isk will be taken up updating their order on a daily basis.  And the best outcome for me is that they make no sales and so their capital is tied up on Sell Orders that need to be updated on a daily basis.

Eventually, this always happens, they will either give up or let their order expire.  And then they move on.

All i have done is make myself harder to crack than the next person, and that's all i need to do.

What does that cost me?

My broker fees will rise as i modify the price each day.  But i look at that as a standard cost of doing business.

Hence, why it is important to be maxed out in the trading skills of Accountancy, Broker Relations and Advanced Broker Relations.

What is my big advantage?

I have two big advantages.

Firstly, i focus on items that are slow moving.  So Sales will only happen once a week at best.  That will put off many new entrants alone.  I suspect many new entrants do not have the patience i have and they will not want their capital tied up in items that don't sell often and on which they are modifying the price of once a day.

Secondly, this is what i do.  Any new entrant that is treating this as a side hobby wont last.
